With so many disc jockeys to choose from, how do you choose the one that’s right for you? There are differences in price, services offered, personalities and more. You can choose a DJ whose laid back or high energy, offers lighting and effects or doesn’t offer any extras. But what really makes a mobile disc jockey company different from the rest? Here are some tips to help you find out:
First, decide whether you want a wedding like everyone else or something unique. Today’s society lives in the “have it your way” era (as best said by Burger King). Start by looking for companies that are unique and not a commodity. Are they selling a unique service or are they just selling DJs?
Second, ask yourself how important is your entertainment. If price is more important than your entertainment then you can find a DJ anywhere. But if your entertainment is high on the priority list, look for that company that has entertainment value. For example: Are they just music and lights or are they much more than that? Can they direct, coordinate and emcee, or are they just an announcer?
Third, ask the company questions specific to your event and what you are looking for. Go beyond the generic questions like, what kind of music do you have or do you take requests. Be specific with the answers you are looking for. This will give you a better idea of what they really are like and offer.
Lastly, don’t ask to see them at another event. You may not like what that client asked for and your event may be very different. Also try to avoid the demos with the DJ showing the electric slide, YMCA, or chicken dance. Do you really want to see that we know how to do this? Ask to see a video of them doing introductions or various routines to entertain your guests. That’s where you will see most of their personality.
